Join us Saturday for the release of two wine barrel–aged variants of our Brett Saison: Chardonnay Brett Saison and Chardonnay Brett Saison with Apricot!
We were excited to receive chardonnay barrels from New Kent Winery, the first time we’ve worked with a local wine producer. We decided to add saison and brettanomyces to the barrels. To a few, we also added apricot puree. We really enjoy how the flavors from the chardonnay barrel combine with the Brett Saison. Both the Chardonnay Brett Saison and the Chardonnay Brett Saison with Apricot are good candidates for aging, from a few months to a couple years.
Tasting notes: The Chardonnay Brett Saison and the Chardonnay Brett Saison with Apricot are both pale gold and slightly cloudy. The aroma presents a balance between our saison yeast, classic brett funk, and chardonnay. The mouthfeel is drier and lighter bodied than the base beer. Chardonnay notes from the barrel figure prominently alongside the brett’s dry, fruity, barnyard funk, which is complemented in the apricot variant by pleasant notes of the stone fruit. The Chardonnay Brett Saison is 7.96% ABV and 20 IBU, and the Chardonnay Brett Saison with Apricot is 7.73% ABV and 16 IBU.
These beers will be available on limited draft and in 330mL bottles. ZZQ will be here at opening with their delicious Texas craft barbeque, and Bikini Panini will join us later at 4pm with tasty Mediterranean fare. We hope you’ll come enjoy some great food and the release of these two new beers.
