Brett Saison Bottle Release Day

To all lovers of fruity farmhouse funk: Brett Saison is back!

We first brewed the Brett Saison, in part, because we hadn’t yet tried bottle conditioning. To our surprise, it took home bronze in the Brett Beer category at the 2016 Great American Beer Festival. We’ve been so honored by its success, especially because every step in the process of creating this beer has excited us as brewers. With bottle conditioning, the result is always a little bit of a surprise. No two bottles will taste exactly alike, and the same bottle can change in taste from week to week. This batch was made over the winter, so the weather and temperature have subtly shaped the flavor profile. And of course, Brett Saison is the perfect candidate for aging; we recommend getting an extra bottle or two to age in your personal collection.

Tasting notes: We fermented the Brett Saison with our house saison yeast, and then bottled it with two types of brettanomyces. The resulting beer is a golden straw color, hazy from bottle conditioning. Its effervescent mouthfeel emphasizes complex aromas and flavors: earthy, fruity, farmhouse funk, with a hint of saison pepperiness and a dry finish. Ages well, so try storing it for anywhere from a few months to a couple years.

The Brett Saison will be available on limited draft and in 750 mL bottles. And if you haven’t heard already, ZZQ and their famous Texas craft ’que will be making their long-awaited return to Ardent! Once they sell out, Bikini Panini will be here with delicious Mediterranean fare. We hope you’ll join us for a day of great food and the release of one of our favorite beers.
