Winter Warmer release

’Tis the season… for holiday beer!

Winter Warmer, brewed as a special pilot batch with mulling spices, was conceived as a collaboration with the Valentine. Due to inclement weather, we had to cancel our Court End Christmas appearance, so now we're hosting a special tasting event right here at Ardent this Thursday!

The Valentine is Richmond’s oldest museum, dedicated to collecting, preserving and interpreting Richmond stories, and they'll be joining us for this small batch taproom release. Plus, proceeds generated from Winter Warmer sales will be donated to support the Valentine's operations!

Winter Warmer was brewed with nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger, and allspice alongside honey malt and brown sugar. The malty residual sweetness is balanced by the addition of East Kent Golding, the quintessential English hop. Winter Warmer tastes like Christmas in a glass!

Double IPA

We tried out a brand new IPA recipe, and everybody in the brewery is super excited for the results!

Available in the taproom TODAY!

This Double IPA was brewed and dry hopped with 100% Mosaic hops, featuring a big tropical aroma, fruit-forward, juicy flavor, and minimal bitterness. Mosaic DIPA pours a bright golden color, and every sip is a velvety soft treat.

8% ABV • 7 IBU

Winter Warmer is being released in the taproom on Friday, December 7, with representatives from The Valentine onsite to answer all your questions about Richmond’s 400-year history.

Then from 12-5 on Sunday, December 9, join Danny as he pours Winter Warmer during Court End Christmas at The Valentine, featuring children’s activities, carriage rides, performances, refreshments, gift shops, music and tours, as well as free admission to a number of downtown historic sites. 1015 East Clay Street

We’re throwing a special Saturday release party, and in addition to Baltic Porter, we’ll have four guest taps dedicated to pouring Precarious beers right here at Ardent.

  • Everywhere You Look There’s Something: 6.9% Oud Bruin with Bergamot

  • HellaFest: 5% Festbier lagered on oak spirals

  • Modest Savings: 5.4% NEIPA with El Dorado and Mosaic hops

  • Cruel To Be Kind: 5.1% Oatmeal Stout with Vanilla

Baltic Porter is a big, dark, boozy, robust porter with notes of chocolatey sweetness. 9.1% ABV

Old Molasses Ale: history, science & beer!

Ardent Craft Ales and the John Marshall House, a Preservation Virginia historic site, are teaming up for a weekend of history, science, and beer!

We brewed a special historical beer to celebrate John Marshall’s birthday. Plus, we’re excited for the opportunity to extract yeast from a bottle of Madeira that’s remained preserved in the John Marshall House cellar for hundreds of years, and hopefully use it to brew a modern day beer using the same historical strain!

First, join us in the taproom at 4 p.m. on Friday, September 21, when we’ll introduce our latest pilot brew: Old Molasses Ale. This beer was based on a recipe from John Marshall’s cousin, Mary Randolph, that she brewed in the late 1700s and featured a late addition of molasses in the boil. Representatives from the John Marshall House will also be on hand.

On Saturday, September 22, Ardent heads downtown for a day of history, science, and beer! We’ll be serving Old Molasses Ale at the John Marshall House, which is opening up its doors for free admission to mark Time Travelers Weekend. In addition to touring the house and learning about John Marshall, keep an eye out for scientists demonstrating how we hope to capture yeast from bottles of Madeira that have been preserved in the cellar.

The John Marshall House will be open 10am-5pm on Saturday:

John Marshall, a Richmond native, was the longest-serving Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and is largely responsible for establishing the modern influence of the court. He was also quite fond of Madeira, a Portuguese wine that he shared enthusiastically with friends at his Richmond home.

It's baaaaaaaaaaaack! The end of summer marks the return of our annual Sweet Potato and Sage Saison.

Sweet Potato and Sage is a dry, farmhouse-style saison. Earthy notes from the sweet potatoes are balanced by the fragrant aroma of fresh, local sage. This fall seasonal features a continental malt backbone and subtle hop presence in a well-rounded beer.
